NBSA Member, Bob Fisher, Smashes 1 Hour Free Throw Record by Making an Incredible 2371 Free Throws

NBSA founding member, Bob Fisher, has been on a free throw World Record setting rampage over the last two years. His latest and most impressive feat was setting a new world record for most free throws in 1 hour. The previous record was 1968 by Perry Dissmore on September 15th, 2011. Fisher raced by the record with an incredible finishing total of 2371 free throws made in 1 hour. A pace of more than 39.5 free throws per minute.

Fisher is now a 13-time world record holder in the free throw shooting category.

Results from the Sonoran Desert Basketball Shootout in Tucson, Arizona

The Sonoran Desert Basketball Shootout was held in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday December 10th, 2011. The event consisted of 5 shooting competitions including free throws for accuracy, 3 pointers for accuracy, most free throws in a minute, most 3 pointers in a minute, and Got Range. 16 shooters competed in the event with participants from Arizona, California, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, and Utah.

Results of the 2011 NBSA Virginia Free Throw and 3 Point Shooting Championships

On Friday July 15th, the NBSA held the 2nd annual Virginia Free Throw Championship and the first annual Virginia 3 Point Shooting Championship in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games. Participants ranged in age from 9 years old to 61 years old. There were 70 total entries from 42 people making the events highly competitive and a lot of fun for everyone involved.

The Importance of Free Throws in Winning NCAA Tournament Games

A Calipari team lost again in the NCAA tournament because of poor free throw shooting. Calipari may one day recruit enough athletes to win a championship but so far his Memphis team lost to Kansas, he was ousted last year by poor free throw shooting versus West Virginia and this year lost to Uconn because of misses from the charity stripe.

On June 5, 2010, NBSA Founding Member Bob Fisher, established a new Guinness World Record for the most free throws made in 30 seconds. The video is now available which shows Bob's record breaking feat of 33 free throws in 30 seconds.

The past year has been exciting for free throw shooting enthusiasts as 11 new world records have been set or broken. These records are all current Guinness Free Throw Shooting World Records as of February 8th, 2011.
