Dallas All-Star Jam Session 2010
Great week in Dallas! On Wednesday, February 10, Stuart Claxton from Guinness Book of World Records was there to witness two new world records. First Jeff Harris made 44 freethrows in two minutes, shooting with alternate hands. First left hand, then right, left, right... It was amazing to see shot after shot dropping through the basket while switching hands.
I shot next going for most freethrows in two minutes and finished with 68. Not as good as the 72 I made a few months ago, but this time it was official. The clock said it took only 120 seconds to set the record, but to get there took 38 years and over a million freethrows in in over 300 gyms around the USA. Hoping the next record doesn't take quite as long.
Ed Palubinskas barely missed on his two record attempts, most in one minute and most blindfolded in one minute. Last year in Phoenix he set the two minute blindfolded record and had previously set the one hour record two times.
Got autographs including Bill Walton, Jerry Colangelo and author Ian Naismith, the grandson of James Naismith.
Spent a lot of time at the basketball court set up by the WNBA. They had a 3-point shooting contest, where teams of four shot for 45 seconds and winners got to keep competing. Ed, Jeff, and I plus a young kid in line shot for over 45 minutes before tiring and narrowly losing.
The next day we tried again and shot over two hours without getting beat - until Ed and I were taking a brief break talking to a coach and the competition restarted - and Jeff didn't tell us! Ed and I jumped back in line to shoot but not quite soon enough. The dynasty was over... but plans to resume power next year in Los Angeles.
Keep focused, RR
